R.K. Wigal was born in Maywood, California on September 26, 1941, just before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and America's subsequent entry into World War II. The Second World War had a significant impact on his life. Just after his 18th birthday, Mr. Wigal joined the Army where he spent nearly six years, including an extended overseas tour in South Korea. Later he barely avoided being sent to Viet Nam (when he wanted to go, the Army wouldn't send him; when the Army wanted him to go, he said, "No, thank you."). Upon leaving the Army in August, 1965, Mr. Wigal joined the civilian work force where he held a number of technical and, later, programming positions until 1992 when he was laid off by a major aerospace corporation. He retired in the fall of 2007 after having worked in security since 2001. Mr. Wigal's education consists of an AA Degree from each of two different community colleges (Rio Hondo and Cerritos, both in Southern California) and a BS Degree in Computer Science (Summa Cum Laude) from California State University Dominguez Hills based in Carson, CA. He began actually writing in 2006 when he attended a creative writing course that his daughter also attended. Mr. Wigal married in 1976, and he lives with his wife to this day.
